We recommend that you download the complete Help File. The Help File contains all information you need regarding both Stock Screener Lite and Stock Screener Professional. The information covers all the basic like installation, how to update the database, where to get Historical Stock Data (EOD Data) and etc. The file also contains information on each filter with example and how it works. We strongly recommend that you go thru the Help File.

How do I update the database?

To update the database for both Stock Screener Lite and Professional, you must first download the Historical Stock Data (EOD Data) from our site. You may download it here and we provide FREE data for up to 3 months and covers over 30 stock exchange worldwide. The data provided are free for download and is to help users to try out our Stock Screener software. After you have downloaded the files (we recommend you to download all 3 months of data), unzip them to your local hard disk. Then, run the Stock Screener software and click DATA (on the menu bar) and click Update Database. A small window will appear and click on the Browse button to find those EOD Data files you have just unzipped earlier. To select multiple files for update, you may hold down the SHIFT key on the keyboard and select files, or you may hold down the CTRL key and pressing A at the same time. Click the UPDATE button to begin updating your database. For more information, (on the menu bar) go to Help --> Help File and select the Update Database topic for a complete explanation with screenshots.

How do I delete Stock Screener database (start all over again)?

Just browse to the installed directory (typically it will be in C:\Program Files\Stock Screener Lite or C:\Program Files\Stock Screener Pro Trial) and find a file with the extension .ssd (that is dot ssd). The file name may either be DATABASELITE.SSD or DATABASEPRO.SSD. Once you have located the file, just delete it. Make sure the Stock Screener software is not running or you will get 'Access Violation" error. Once you have deleted the file, run the Stock Screener software and you will have a fresh new database to work with.

Sometimes, you will have to delete the database due to events that is out of your control. Example, the database is corrupted (can't read physical data on the hard disk) or you got a virus attack. In either situation, just delete the database file and you will have a new database to work with.
