Asset Acceptance Capital Corp.

Asset Acceptance Capital Corp. is listed on NASDAQ (AACC). We have been purchasing and collecting defaulted or charged-off accounts receivable portfolios from consumer credit originators since the formation of our predecessor company in 1962. Charged-off receivables are the unpaid obligations of individuals to credit originators, such as credit card issuers, consumer finance companies, retail merchants and telecommunications and other utility providers as well as from resellers and other holders of consumer debt. Since these receivables generally have been subject to multiple collection efforts, we are able to purchase them at a substantial discount to their face value. Unlike many of our competitors, we currently do not collect on a commission or contingent fee basis. Rather, we purchase and collect charged-off accounts receivable portfolios for our own account as we believe this affords us the best opportunity to use long-term strategies to maximize our profits.

Associated Banc-Corp (individually referred to herein as the Parent Company, and together with all of its subsidiaries and affiliates, collectively referred to herein as the Corporation) is a bank holding company registered pursuant to the Bank Holding Company Act of 1956, as amended (the BHC Act). It was incorporated in Wisconsin in 1964 and was inactive until 1969 when permission was received from the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (the FRB or Federal Reserve) to acquire three banks. At December 31, 2004, the Parent Company owned three commercial banks located in Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin and one thrift located in Wisconsin, serving their respective local communities and, measured by total assets held at December 31, 2004, was the second largest commercial bank holding company headquartered in Wisconsin.
