American Realty Investors Inc. is listed on NYSE (ARL). The predecessor to American Realty Investors, Inc. (ARI or the Company or we or us) was organized in 1961 to provide investors with a professionally managed, diversified portfolio of equity real estate and mortgage loan investments selected to provide opportunities for capital appreciation as well as current income. On October 23, 2001, ARI, Transcontinental Realty Investors, Inc. (TCI), and Income Opportunity Realty Investors, Inc. (IORI) jointly announced a preliminary agreement with the plaintiff's legal counsel of the derivative action entitled Olive et al. V. National Income Realty Trust, et al. for a complete settlement of all disputes in the lawsuit (the Olive Litigation). In February 2002, the court granted final approval of the proposed settlement (the Olive Settlement).
