It became a public company on December 2, 1948, changed its name to Erie Diversified Industries Ltd. on December 5, 1968, changed its name to Lambda Mercantile Corporation Ltd., on August 10, 1973, changed its name to Consolidated Mercantile Corporation on September 30, 1987 and on October 22, 1998 changed its name to its present name, Consolidated Mercantile Incorporated. Consolidated Water Co. Ltd. is listed on NASDAQ (CWCO). Our company, Consolidated Water Co. Ltd., was incorporated in 1973 and uses reverse osmosis technology to produce freshwater from seawater. We process and supply water to our customers in the Cayman Islands, Belize, Barbados, the British Virgin Islands and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. We sell water to a variety of customers, including public utilities, commercial and tourist properties, residential properties and government facilities. Effective February 1, 2003, we acquired interests in five companies, which operate a total of seven desalination plant facilities. With one of these acquisitions, we obtained the exclusive right through October 2009 to distribute the DWEERT Energy Recovery System for use in reverse osmosis seawater desalination plants in the Caribbean basin.
