The company was incorporated under the laws of the state of Ohio in August, 1876, succeeding a proprietorship established in 1859 and is engaged primarily in the sale, manufacture, installation and service of automated self-service transaction systems, electronic and physical security products, election systems and software. The company specializes in technology that empowers people worldwide to access services when, where and how they may choose. In 2002, the company acquired Diebold Election Systems, Inc. (DESI), a manufacturer and supplier of elections systems and support, to mark its launch into the election systems market. Diedrich Coffee is listed on NASDAQ (DDRX). Diedrich Coffee, Inc. is a specialty coffee roaster, wholesaler and retailer. We sell brewed, espresso-based and various blended beverages primarily made from our own fresh roasted premium coffee beans, as well as light food items, whole bean coffee and accessories, through our company operated and franchised retail locations. We also sell whole bean and ground coffee on a wholesale basis through a network of distributors in the Office Coffee Service (OCS) market and to other wholesale customers, including restaurant chains and other retailers. Our brands include Diedrich Coffee, Gloria Jean's, and Coffee People. As of June 29, 2005, we owned and operated 62 retail locations and franchised 139 other retail locations under these brands, for a total of 201 retail coffee outlets.
