We are a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of novel biotherapeutics for unmet medical needs, with an emphasis on cancer and inflammatory indications. We currently have two product candidates in or entering into Phase II clinical trials for three indications, and we are planning to initiate a Phase III trial of our lead product candidate in the first half of 2005. DX-88, a novel kallikrein inhibitor, is being studied in collaboration with Genzyme Corporation for the treatment of hereditary angioedema, or HAE, a genetic disease that can cause swelling of the larynx, gastrointestinal tract and extremities. Independent of our collaboration with Genzyme, we are also studying DX-88 for the prevention of blood loss and other systemic inflammatory responses for patients undergoing on-pump, open-heart surgery, specifically coronary artery bypass graft, or CABG, surgery.
