Genentech Inc. is listed on NYSE (DNA). Genentech is a leading biotechnology company that discovers, develops, manufactures, and commercializes biotherapeutics for significant unmet medical needs. A considerable number of the currently approved biotechnology products originated from or are based on Genentech science. Genentech manufactures and commercializes multiple biotechnology products directly in the United States (or U.S.), and receives royalties from companies that are licensed to market products based on our technology. See Marketed Products and Licensed Products below. Genentech was organized in 1976 as a California corporation and was reincorporated in Delaware in 1987. Redemption of Our Special Common Stock and Public Offerings At December 31, 2004, Roches percentage ownership of our outstanding common stock was 56.1%. On June 30, 1999, we redeemed all of our outstanding Special Common Stock held by stockholders other than Roche Holdings, Inc. (or Roche) at a price of $10.
