Discovery Partners International Inc. is listed on NASDAQ (DPII). We collaborate with pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies to advance their drug discovery process through our integrated and highly efficient collection of drug discovery technologies, products and services focused from the point immediately following identification of a drug target through when a drug candidate is ready for pre-clinical studies. Despite numerous technological advances in combinatorial chemistry, high throughput screening, genomics and proteomics, the process of drug discovery remains slow, expensive and often unsuccessful. In order to make the drug discovery process faster, less expensive and more likely to generate a drug candidate, we offer products and services such as assays, synthesis automation, design and synthesis of proprietary libraries of compounds, high throughput screening, lead optimization, drug discovery informatics and toxicology.

Overview We are Chile’s leading hypermarket and supermarket company in terms of sales, with an estimated market share in the hypermarket and supermarket industry of 34% for 2004. With over a century of experience in the distribution and retailing of food in the Chilean market, at December 31, 2004, we operated 78 stores in three store formats under the Lider brand name. In January 2004, we acquired Carrefour Chile S.A. for €100 million, adding seven hypermarkets of which six have been converted into Lider stores and one remains closed. We expect to re-open this store during the second half of 2005. Over the last five years, we have increased our total number of stores from 51 to 78 (including six stores acquired from Carrefour), of which 47 are located in the Santiago metropolitan region. Our expansion program currently projects the opening of six new stores in 2005.
