Guitar Center Inc. is listed on NASDAQ (GTRC). Guitar Center, Inc. was founded in 1964 in Hollywood, California. Our flagship Hollywood store currently is one of the nation’s largest and best-known retail stores of its kind with approximately 30,600 square feet of retail space. The Hollywood store features one of the largest used and vintage guitar collections in the United States, attracting buyers and collectors from around the world. In front of the Hollywood store is the Rock Walk which memorializes over 200 famous musicians and music pioneers. The Rock Walk attracts several tour buses daily and has helped to create international recognition of the Guitar Center name. In 1972, we opened our second store in San Francisco to capitalize on the emerging San Francisco rock ‘n roll scene. By this time, our inventory had been expanded to include drums, keyboards, accessories, live-sound-DJ and recording equipment.
