Calypte Biomedical Corporation develops, manufactures, and distributes in vitro diagnostic tests, primarily for the diagnosis of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection. Since 1998 we have been the leading manufacturer of urine-based HIV diagnostic tests. Over the last two years, we have been broadening our historical focus on urine-based laboratory tests to include other HIV tests, such as a blood-based incidence test and various rapid tests using other specimens. We were incorporated in California in 1989 and reincorporated in Delaware in 1996 at the time of our initial public offering. We trade on the American Stock Exchange under the symbol HIV. Our corporate headquarters are located in Pleasanton, California.
