The Steel segment comprises the production and sale of semifinished steel products; carbon and specialty long products; carbon and stainless flat products; and value-added downstream metal products, including hardware, stampings, and forgings. The company also produces coke both for internal use and for sales to third parties. As of January 1, 2006, its proven and probable reserves were 245.6 million tons of coal, 83.5 million tons of iron ore, 14.0 million tons of nickel ore; and 19.2 million tons of limestone. It operates primarily in Russia, Romania, and Croatia. The company is headquartered in Moscow, Russia.
