Playboy Enterprises, Inc., together with its subsidiaries and predecessors, will be referred to in this Form 10-K Annual Report by terms such as we, us, our, Playboy and the Company, unless the context otherwise requires. We were organized in 1953 to publish Playboy magazine and are now a worldwide leader in the development and distribution of multi-media lifestyle entertainment for adult audiences. The Playboy brand is one of the most widely recognized and popular brands in the world. The strength of our brand drives the financial performance of our Entertainment, Publishing and Licensing Groups. Our programming is carried in the U.S. by all six of the major multiple system operators, or MSOs, and both of the largest satellite direct-to-home, or DTH, providers. We have online operations consisting of a network of websites with an established and growing subscriber and revenue base.

In 1988, our women’s apparel operations were spun off and sold to a third party. During the mid-late 1990’s, we made a series of acquisitions, which have diversified our product portfolio, including Banana Boat, Wet Ones, and Diaper Genie.
