Sonic Automotive Inc. is listed on NYSE (SAH). Sonic Automotive, Inc. was incorporated in Delaware in 1997. We are one of the largest automotive retailers in the United States. As of March 1, 2005, we operated 192 dealership franchises at 159 dealership locations, representing 38 different brands of cars and light trucks, and 40 collision repair centers in 15 states. Each of our dealerships provides comprehensive services including (1) sales of both new and used cars and light trucks, (2) sales of replacement parts and performance of vehicle maintenance, warranty, paint and repair services and (3) arrangement of extended service contracts, financing, insurance, vehicle protection products and other aftermarket products (collectively, F&I) for our automotive customers.

Sonic Corp. is listed on NASDAQ (SONC). Sonic Corp. operates and franchises the largest chain of drive-in restaurants (Sonic Drive-Ins) in the United States. As of August 31, 2005, the Company had 3,039 Sonic Drive-Ins in operation, consisting of 574 Partner Drive-Ins and 2,465 Franchise Drive-Ins, principally in the southern two-thirds of the United States. Partner Drive-Ins are those Sonic Drive-Ins owned and operated by either a limited liability company or a general partnership. We own a majority interest, typically at least 60%, and the supervisor and manager of the drive-in own a minority interest in each Partner Drive-In limited liability company or general partnership. Franchise Drive-Ins are owned and operated by our franchisees. At a typical Sonic Drive-In, a customer drives into one of 24 to 36 covered drive-in spaces, orders through an intercom speaker system, and has the food delivered by a carhop within an average of four minutes.
