Viacom Inc. is listed on NYSE (VIA). SEPARATION FROM THE FORMER VIACOM INC. On December 31, 2005, we became a stand-alone public company in connection with our separation from the former Viacom Inc. (the Former Viacom). Prior to the separation, we were a wholly-owned subsidiary of Former Viacom known as New Viacom Corp. and acquired all of our initial businesses from the Former Viacom. The separation was effected through a merger, pursuant to which Viacom Merger Sub Inc. was merged with Former Viacom, with Former Viacom continuing as the surviving entity and being renamed CBS Corporation, and New Viacom Corp being renamed Viacom Inc. On December 31, 2005, in connection with the merger and the separation, each share of Former Viacom Class A common stock was converted into the right to receive 0.5 of a share of Viacom Class A common stock and 0.5 of a share of CBS Corporation Class A common stock.
