Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited is listed on NYSE (VSL). Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited was incorporated on March 19, 1986 as a limited liability company under the Indian Companies Act, 1956. On April 1, 1986, the Company assumed control and management of all of the assets, employees and operations of the Overseas Communications Service, a department of the Ministry of Communications of the Government of India. The Company was wholly owned by the Government of India until 1992. During 1997 and 1999, the Government sold some of its equity holdings in the Company through the issuance of global depositary receipts (GDRs). These GDRs were converted into American Depository Receipts upon the Company's listing on the New York Stock Exchange on August 15, 2000.
