Ventas Inc. is listed on NYSE (VTR). We are a healthcare REIT incorporated in Delaware in 1985. We own a geographically diverse portfolio of healthcare and senior housing facilities which, as of December 31, 2004, consisted of 201 skilled nursing facilities, 40 hospitals, 30 senior housing facilities, and 16 other facilities in 39 states. Except with respect to our medical office buildings, we lease these facilities to healthcare operating companies under triple-net or absolute-net leases. As of December 31, 2004, Kindred leased 225 of our facilities. As of December 31, 2004, we also had real estate loan investments relating to 25 healthcare and senior housing facilities. We operate through one segment, which consists of financing, owning and leasing healthcare-related and senior housing facilities.
